Composition

For this exercise I had to experiment with composition which makes use of positioning, colour and value in order to manipulate the eyes of the viewer so that they concentrate on the important parts of the image in an order that can create the mood and give it a pleasing look.

Here is an example of the rule of thirds method which helps give a sort layout to position elements of the picture as shown above.

For this exercise I used the rule of thirds method to speed-paint an expanded version of the image above in 20 minutes and create the image below.

Re-composition

Here is the finished product of speed painting using the rule of thirds, I re-arranged elements of the image and added more pieces to the background elements.

I believe the finished product is all-right but it could have been way better, given more time, I would have put more details in the aspects such as the stairs and overpass on the left. Initially I wanted to make a cowboy figure in the position where the cactus is but upon contemplation I knew I wouldn't have enough time.
